So on that count, uuuh, no, an abuse victim is not an asshole for not standing up to the person who's abusing them. Edit: okay, they did make clear they didn't think she was an asshole. still feels like a weird first takeaway from the story to go "she needed to insist her apparently abusive boyfriend not do abusive shit"

Re the dolls. I make reborn dolls for a variety of people (dementia, child loss, mentally unable, physically unable etc etc), and I know they're (most likely) different from the ones in the story, but sentiment is the same - they creep A LOT of people out bc they're too realistic. Some of the community's dolls from the best artists can go for double-digits thousands. It's really, really crazy. I have a few that I became attached to, that I'd spent too much time working their flaws out or rooting their hair or whatever, and I won't sell them - The set of twins I won't sell have had offers over £700. My stepmum wanted them yeeted, and my now ex-gf refused to be in the room or have to see them and her reactiobs were much like this guy - the difference being I kept them in a cupboard she wouldn't ever need to go in, and she didn't. She didn't "make" me stop, throw them out, damage them etc etc. As a child, I used to collect the china dolls ,which I think are probably gonna be the same as the op had. Even second-hand and out of fashion, they can be *really* expensive. I don't keep them out (I'm far too clumsy and would be terrified to break them) and so they stay in the loft, carefully packaged. I'm due to inherit a doll that was my grandmother's when she was a young child, and I'm the only one of three gkids and two kids who will even just look at the doll. My dad wouldn't even sleep in the same room as her, as she lies underneath n the bed drawers. I fully admit that I have zero "use" and, like my grandmother, wouldn't keep her on display, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to keep her. She has massive, *massive* sentimental value to me, and I would be *very* close to going to prison if, when I have her, someone was to throw her out - or even damage her. I wouldn't have even offered to give the relationship a try. That's awful betrayal, and I'm so glad OP left him. I just think she ought to throw some of his stuff out (and still pay for her stuff) as tit for tat. I understand it makes the world blind, but sometimes you need to take the eye.

First OP’s husband might either be autistic, going through an incredibly strange midlife crisis, or very gay. None of the above are bad things, but these are the only explanations for that behavior. Very, very strange imo, especially HAVING to PERFECTLY learn the choreography and MAKING her watch to make sure he gets the timing and dance moves down to a T, being the highest bidder on all of his bids and doing it constantly, and obsessively emailing the group members (so, like Spencer said, “BEYONCÉ?!?”) many times. I would be looking into a divorce or immediate and serious psychiatric help and a full mental evaluation. Imagine a psychiatrist holding up those blobs on paper asking what he sees and he’s just like “that’s beyoncé dancing in the Say My Name video” then shows him the next one and he says “oh easy that’s all of destiny’s child on the album cover of Survivor (International Edition). Scary to even think about.

Throw in his supposed date to the scene. He was desperately trying to make her feel so jealous to the point where she would go as far as to act on her feelings or make moves firsthand. And I don’t think he would have been kind and nice to her had she done that. Chances are he would have gloated and just fondled her as something to fiddle and nothing more.
